ExoShield GT3+ is applied using the same skills and tools needed to apply window tint. Anyone with a clean operation and sufficient tinting experience can learn to install ExoShield. While ExoShield is considerably thicker than traditional window tint, we've engineered ExoShield to be shrinkable just like tint. The main modification you'll need to make to your installation process is to use more heat when shrinking to compensate for ExoShield's added thickness.

Windshield Protection Film is a clear, exterior film that is designed to absorb impacts, prevent wear and tear damage, extending the life of any windshield. ExoShield has a variety of windshield protection options, including the industry's most durable WPF: ExoShield GT3+. On average, protecting a vehicles windshield with ExoShield Windshield Protection film increases the impact protection by 6X, to defend against highway speed rock hits. Windshield protection film is a difficult product to install if you do not have the correct tools, installation area, or experience. All ExoShield GT3+ installations must be carried out by a trained, certified ExoShield Partner. ExoShield's windshield protection film is engineered for a high level of optical clarity to ensure the driver's view of the road remains unobstructed. When installed on a new windshield, our WPF only reduces visible light transmittance by 1.5%, which is not noticeable to the naked eye.

Windshield wipers themselves will not scratch ExoShield's windshield protection film. However, the risk of scratching increases when the windshield is covered with sand or debris from the road that becomes impregnated into the soft material of the wiper blade. Many new vehicles use advanced cameras and sensors to provide advanced safety systems such as lane-keep assist, collision warnings, and more. With many of these systems located right under the windshield, we made sure that ExoShield's windshield protection film is compatible with all of these systems. Our windshield protection film is completely invisible to any cameras and sensors on your vehicle, meaning that your safety features will work as usual once your film is installed!

On average, you can expect to get up to 24-36 months out of your ExoShield windshield protection film, but this can be extended with good care and maintenance practices. With each purchase of ExoShield windshield protection film we include a care instruction package that will educate you on how to best take care of your windshield. Most regulations prohibit any films to be on the windshield that reduce a drivers visibility. ExoShield Windshield Protection Films have a VLT of 91.5%  which does not result in a change in the drivers visibility. This is not legal advice, please refer to your local tint laws for more information.

Based on extensive testing, ceramic coatings are recommended for use with ExoShield GT3+. These coatings enhance hydrophobicity, reducing the need to use your wiper blades and helping prevent the build-up of dirt and haze on the surface. You can find the full guide here.

We recommend talking to your installer before attempting the removal process yourself. To remove windshield protection film, gently heat the film with a heat gun or steamer to soften the adhesive. Starting from one corner, slowly peel off the film at a shallow angle, applying additional heat as needed. Work your way across the windshield, removing the film in sections as needed. Use a residue remover like diluted isopropyl alcohol to dissolve any leftover adhesive, then clean the surface with automotive soap and water. Finally, polish and wax the surface to restore shine and protection.

The useable lifespan of windshield protection film is up to each driver. If you notice your film is starting to wear, or if at anytime you notice a negative change in your driving experience we recommend reaching out to your installer for guidance on next steps. In many cases, there are steps you can take to clean unwanted buildup from the surface of the film. If a removal and replacement of the film is needed, we also recommend connecting with your installer for next steps.

No, there is no need to purchase specific wiper blades for ExoShield. We do suggest that you inspect your wipers before your windshield protection film installation in case they are worn and need to be replaced.

Wear and tear is not covered by our limited product warranty. While our GT3+ and ULTRA product are engineered to prevent scratches during standard driving conditions, there is always a chance something could scratch the surface of the film. Scratching will not effect the impact resistance of the film, so depending on the level of wear - you can choose to continue driving with the scratch, or consider replacing your film.

You are required to register your ExoShield GT3+ purchase here, or follow the instructions on the back of the ExoShield Care & Warranty Card that you received at the time of installation. If you did not receive this card or have misplaced it, please contact your installer to receive a new one. If you have still not received this email and cannot locate it in your junk email folder, first contact your ExoShield installer to confirm that they have registered your purchase with the correct email address. Windshield Protection Film helps prevent everyday windshield damage,  but we also know that accidents can happen and that ExoShield is not bulletproof. When you purchase ExoShield, we offer an extended Glass Protection Warranty that will cover you against any rock chip damage to your windshield up to $1000. ExoShield's windshield protection products are clear, durable films made up of Alchemy's proprietary technology. It is a layered laminate film that consists of a nano-composite hardcoat, a flexible shock -absorbing substrate, and a strong ultra-clear adhesive. We offer both PET based windshield protection films (GT3+, ULTRA) as well as TPU based films (SPRINT).

It is! GT3+ has hydrophobicity built into its top layer, which means that water will roll more easily off of the surface. To enhance the hydrophobic effect, you can apply additional ceramic coatings onto your GT3+ or ULTRA film. For the list of approved coatings, click here.

Yes! GT3+ is designed and tested in Canada, where we have freezing cold winters of -40C and hot summers of +40C. We also have partners all over the world who provide us with real-world performance information. Once GT3+ has been installed and has fully cured, it should not be affected by high heat and humidity, snow and ice, or ice scrapers etc.
